Urulaikizhangu Podimas ( Boiled and Suated potatoes-Tamilnadu Style)

Potatoes are loved mostly by everyone and each region has its own specialty recipe with this tuber.Here in Tamil nadu along with potato roast,curry for poori etc we make a different kind of dry curry-podimas.A very very simple recipe yet so flavorful and tasty and the best thing is it uses very little oil.This is a very different type of recipe,I have not seen it any where outside Tamil nadu.This is best served with steamed rice and any kind of kuzhambu,and this can be made in no time.

Star ingredients:Potato
Time:20 minutes
Serves:3
Ingredients:
4 medium sized potatoes
2 tablespoons shredded coconut
2 dried red chillies
2 green chillies
10-12 curry leaves
1/2 teaspoon asafoetida
A small piece of ginger crushed(optional)
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon channa dal
1 teaspoon urad dal
Salt
Oil to temper
Method:
1.Pressure cook the potatoes till 4 whistles.Peel and mash the potatoes coarsely.
Urulaikizhangu podimas ( boiled and suated potatoes-Tamilnadu style)2.In a kadai heat some oil and temper with mustard,urad dal,red chillies,green chillies,curry leaves,asafoetida and channa dal.

5.Serve hot with rice and any sambar or kuzhambu.

1.you can soak channa dal in water for 15 minutes for even frying.
2.Adding coconut is optional
