I was just up in Cleveland last weekend and at 17 degrees, the farthest thing from my mind was sleeveless shirts. Now, though, I’m back in Florida and I”m actually sitting in my house this minute typing this, on January 15, with a tank top and shorts on. Granted, the weather has been a little chilly here lately, but tomorrow it’ll be back up to a high of 77 degrees! YAY!
When you’re outside here in Florida running – no matter which season of sunshine you are in – there are so many times when you wish you could pull your sleeve up so that you have a tank top on instead of the T-shirt you started out with. Or another scenario is this: you want to wear a particular race shirt for an event, but you don’t want to wear a sleeved shirt. Before ExerTies, I would have been stuck wearing a race shirt with weird sleeves, or I would have been sweating in my sleeved shirt because I didn’t wear a tank top. Now, though, I’ve got the solution thanks to ExerTies!
What are they? They are awesome little silicone ties that keep your shirt sleeves up! No more cutting sleeves off of your old T-shirts, rolling up the sleeves of a participant shirt, or tucking the sleeves of your T-shirt around your bra just to be comfortable while you’re running. The uses for ExerTies aren’t limited to shirt sleeves either, I’ve seen them used for key rings, cable holders and hair ties too!
These ExerTies are American-made too – in fact, they are domestically produced in Sanford, Maine. ExerTies are made out of medical-grade silicone rubber and are small but sturdy.
….And I tried them out too – ExerTies are super comfortable and I didn’t even notice they were there because the silicone is soft and flexible. I can imagine that these ExerTies would be perfect not only for running, but for other sports and workouts, gardening and yardwork, or for any reason you’d want to tie up your sleeves. I’ll admit that sometimes I like to catch a few rays when I’m out on long runs and these ExerTies are perfect to avoid tan lines too!

I have also learned that the ExerTies Maine-factory team uses them around the shop to secure injection mold water hoses and heater cables because silicone stays flexible from very high temperatures to freezing cold! They have evolved over time with the addition of the reinforced eyelet and upgraded button. Like all the products they produce, ExerTies are made from Medical-Healthcare Grade Class VI Silicone Rubber. This grade of FDA approved Silicone is used for baby bottle nipples, Scuba mouthpieces, food handling and it is safe for skin contact.
