Tune Hotel Makati: Centrally-Located Value Accommodation

By Thelostboylloyd @lloydthelostboy

The other week, I was browsing through Makati hotels online for my writing break. I found that even the not-so-nice ones, apart from the city’s iconic five-star properties, cost above the average than the rest of the metro area. To be fair, Makati has the country’s most prominent central business district, so real estate is priced accordingly. Thankfully, however, Tune Hotel Makati suddenly came to mind, and my search was over. Read more…

Tune Hotel Makati: Centrally-Located Value Accommodation

As a Makati local, I could vouch for the hotel’s central location with certainty. It’s located on a side road along Makati Avenue, which is practically a stone’s throw away from the central business district of Ayala. Along Makati Avenue is a eclectic mix of hip restaurants and bars, since it is, after all, one of the city’s top nightlife destinations and expat hubs. Thus, accessibility is never a problem either, with jeepneys and taxis plying the area 24/7.

Within the area are two malls, namely A.Venue and the new Century City Mall, while the shopping and lifestyle district at Ayala Center and PowerPlant Mall at Rockwell Center can be reached by either a leisurely walk or a short hop aboard a jeepney. Dining choices are in abundance with the plethora of fast food places and convenience stores everywhere.

Tune Hotel Makati is part of a global value hotel chain that concentrates in ASEAN countries, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Closely associated with low-cost airline AirAsia, Tune Hotels’ main selling point is a "5-star sleeping experience at a 1-star price.”

I’m no stranger to the Tune Hotels concept, after having stayed at the group’s properties in both Malaysia and the Philippines. I actually like how I can customize my stay by paying only for what I need because at Tune Hotels, air conditioning, TV, wi-fi, towel rentals, and toiletries, among others are optional add-ons on top of their attractively-priced room rates. Aside from that, I also like how they reward those who book early through regular promos.

After a swift check-in, I got into my room at the third floor. Admittedly, the room was compact, yet it was carefully laid-out, such that it didn’t feel cramped at all. Further, the room looked and felt immaculately clean, thanks to the whitewashed walls and minimal decor.

By paying the room-only rate, guests are afforded the following: a comfortable bed complemented by fluffy pillows and fitted with quality sheets, a strong ceiling fan, a folding desk, electronic safe, hair dryer, universal outlets, and a spotless bathroom equipped with a relaxing hot and cold power shower. For that particular stay, however, I got a Cozy Package, which included air conditioning, cable LCD TV, wi-fi, towel rental, and toiletries.

As I was on writing break, I stayed in the room most of the time, taking quick breaks outside for meals and convenience store runs. I can honestly say that my stay was comfortable because of the bed that had the right firmness, the ambient lighting, the strong air conditioning, and the fast wi-fi, which really was a necessity for me at the time.

While Tune Hotel Makati is considered a limited service hotel, it does have the basics: efficient and hospitable front officers, 24/7 security personnel aided by CCTV monitors, and courteous housekeeping staff. In terms of facilities, the hotel has a sports bar-cum-restaurant that also serves breakfast, common-use PC’s, and overnight parking spaces.

Tune Hotel Makati sure does lack some of the services and facilities of typical hotels, yet it compensates through the comfort of the rooms, the friendly service, the topnotch security, the cleanliness, and of course, the central and convenient location. In all, it’s a wise value choice in Makati where reputable accommodations can easily cost a bundle.
