The Tso Moriri Lake was once a very fine expanse of salt. The lake provides no outlet and the water is moderately brackish and is not suitable for tasting.
Stretching for about 19kms, the Tso Moriri Lake widens for 7km. The Lake is famed as the Tsomoriri Wetland Conservation Reserve due to its inclusion in the wetland reserve under the Ramsar site. One must keep in mind that one cannot hurl any tents or build anything nearby the banks of the lake. It is the utmost Ramsar site in the entire world. Besides, the Lake encompasses a huge variety of flora and fauna such as goats, yaks, cows, migratory birds and Tibetan wolves.

Best time to visit
Tso Moriri remains frozen with very cold circumstances during January to March. In such a condition, there would be no accommodations for the visitors to stay around the lake. Advancing to the month of April, the frozen sheet of ice begins to melt and undergoes a lovely transformation of dissimilar and vibrant colours of the blue water. As a result, it can be concluded that May, June, July and August would be the best months to visit the extremely splendid Tso Moriri Lake
