Finally, it was the last day of school for my son today. This means summer holiday has officially started! Yay! We will be making our way back to Singapore next week. Hopefully the haze will subside very soon. For those of you who do not know about the situation, you may read about it here. To everyone in Singapore, please take good care of yourselves.
Back to the last day of school. Naturally, it came with a class party and parents had to bring in snacks for the party. I knew that another parent was bringing in cakes so I dropped the idea of making cupcakes. So what did I make?
These cute totoro custard cream puffs! I got this idea from Anna The Red. The step-by-step instructions provided by her is brilliant. I didn’t follow her recipe though, choosing to use the custard cream puff recipe I posted before. To save time, I used custard powder to make the filling instead of making my own custard cream. What a terrible mistake! It turned out too runny and didn’t taste as good. Lesson learnt. Other than this, I’m pretty happy with the result.
After making the totoro puffs, I decided to play with the remaining choux pastry dough and came up with …
a tortoise,
and two pigs! Pig heads to be precise.
