Being a huge fan of lip color in chubby crayon form, I was
so excited to see that Too Faced
recently released a line of just such a thing - they've been dubbed Lip Injection Color Bomb! Moisture Plumping Lip Tints! Naturally, I picked one up in
the shade “Coral Pop” and gave it a whirl! Since I didn’t really look into this
fancy little gem much before picking one up, I discovered I was in for a bit of
a surprise…!
First, let me say that I love
the color! It’s beautiful. It’s a nice semi-sheer staining wash of coraly pink. It’s not too coral, nor too pink. I think it would look great on a wide
variety of skin tones as well! Absolutely gorgeous color!!! J
Too Faced claims that these beautiful jumbo lip pencils are
also a moisturizing lip balm. They contain Vitamins A, C and E, as well as
Mango Butter for super soft, supple lips. The Color Bomb does feel moisturizing and is quite comfortable…except for one
thing. And had I really looked at the name, I might have figured it out! J
What I completely failed to notice…until I tried it on…is
that these suckers are also lip plumpers.
It says “Plumping” right in the name, but I was so smitten by a new chubby
crayon, I didn’t give it a thought. Now for many people, a lip plumper is a
welcome thing. I’m not a huge fan, but….
As far as a lip plumper goes, the Too Faced Color Bomb delivers! I’m not entirely sure how they
do it, and I haven’t tried very many lip plumpers, but there is no mistaking
that this fat lip pencil makes your lips look at least a little fuller. The only drawback is that
there is that kind of tingly-stinging feeling about a minute after applying the
Color Bomb. And it doesn’t really go
away. It lessens in intensity, but I find it to be mildly uncomfortable pretty
much until it has mostly worn away. It is not unbearable by any means, but it’s
not a feeling I really want to encourage on my lips. I’m sure plenty of people
wouldn’t mind the tingle at all, but for me, it’s just a bit too much. I do
like the look of the subtle plumping effect, I'm just not a fan of the sensation required
to create the look.
My verdict? The color is beautiful, and I really
wish I could buy this without the plumping factor. Sadly, for me, the plumping
effect, though it does make my lips
look nice and full, is just a bit too much tingle for my taste. I'm sure I'll still wear this - maybe even learn to love it - but I don't think I'll be purchasing more shades. I would say
that unless you want fuller looking lips and can stand the minor discomfort,
you’ll need to keep looking for the perfect pinky-coral chubby lip crayon. It
pains me to say it because I really love the way the Too Faced Lip Injection Color Bomb! Moisture Plumping Lip Tint
looks, plus it feels nice and hydrating on the lips, but the tingle is just too
strong! (Can I just add that it looks rather obscene too!J) Though it is undoubtedly perfect for some, I have to just say no! L
The Too Faced Lip Injection Color Bomb! Moisture Plumping Lip Tint is available in 6 different shades and retails for $21. You can find it at Ulta, Sephora and on Too Faced's website.
