As someone who likes to think of themselves as a pretty decent cake baker, when an email popped into my inbox from Joe Blogs inviting me for an afternoon of cake decorating at the Copthorne hotel in Newcastle it’s safe to say I was pretty excited! There were quite a few of us North East bloggers them, some familiar faces and some new, and after a few nibbles when we arrived the lovely ladies from Julie’s Cake House set about giving us our cake decorating instructions.
The task was to decorate four cupcakes; one pink teddy bear (my fave, and one which prompted people on my Facebook asking if I sold them!), a yellow marshmallow flower, a sparkly pink flower complete with ladybird, and one that had a lipstick and makeup brush on – not going to lie, mine was the absolute worst! I think I done a pretty decent job and I’m definitely going to be practicing my skills over the summer! After we finished decorating we got a guided tour of the hotel and got a chance to look at the amazing views every room has over the Tyne, and luckily the weather was beautiful that day! We ended the day on another (sugar) high note with some tasty afternoon tea nibbles and then sadly I had to dash off to work. It was a lovely day spent catching up with other bloggers, especially Lucy and Amy with their continuous innuendos! Massive thanks to Joe Blogs for another fab event up here in Newcastle :)
P.s what do you think of my photos? These are all snaps I took on my phone as my blogging camera was stolen on holiday last week with all my photos on, boo! Until it gets replaced I’ll be using my iPhone for photos, but I’m thinking these are actually pretty decent!
