Well, it certainly appears like the hazy, lazy days of summer are firmly behind us and that autumn has moved in and staked its claim on the weather.

Unfortunately for children this means a lot fewer days out in the garden playing in the sun, and lot more inside sheltering from the rain.

So if you’re struggling to think of ways to entertain your brood without leaving the house, here are three ideas to get you started.

1. Baking

Baking is a great activity for children, and is perfect for all ages as there’s always a job that little hands can do. Start with something simple and yummy like chocolate chip cookies before moving on to more complex bakes like bread, cakes and pastries. The best thing about getting your kids involved in baking is that you’ll always have a good supply of treats to enjoy with a fresh brew from a Tassimo coffee maker.

2. Family art project

There’s nothing like watching your children get stuck into a good creative project, so why not use the rainy days to work on something together as a family. If you’ve got a printer, a great project could involve printing out images of your family and then building them up in to a collage.

Your children will love all the gluing and cutting and you’ll create a fantastic memory of your family in the process.

3. Construction

If you want to get you children’s imaginations flowing in a more practical way, why not try transforming one of their bedrooms into a building site and gathering all of the cushions, sheets and blankets in the house in order to build a fort?

Transforming the home in this way is incredibly exciting for children and allows you to have a great time with them on their level. Plus, you can have extra fun by preparing a midnight feast for them to enjoy in their new construction.

Though it can be difficult to find new and exciting ways to entertain your children, just remember that a little bit of imagination goes a long way.

So get your creative cap on and get stuck in!
