Thoughts for Thursday–Beliefs

Posted on the 04 April 2013 by Megan Love Literature Art & Reason @meganm922
T4T   Thoughts for Thursday is a new meme hosted by Musings on Fantasia and LKHill.   In this meme, we share thoughts or quotes that we know or have recently come across. Each week there is a specific subject or theme. These can be quotes from books, quotes by famous people, (quotes by YOU, perhaps ;D). Anything from anywhere is game, though we do ask that you keep your quote to a few sentences at most. Don't quote, for example, entire passages of a book or essay. These can be funny quips, cool sayings, hair-raising antidotes, movie lines, any kind of quote you can think of! Just have fun, collect awesome sayings by awesome people, and try to be inspired!
As this past week was Easter, I thought it would be an appropriate week to do a theme on beliefs/religion!

Quotes about Beliefs/Religion
Ask yourself whether the dream of heaven and greatness should be waiting for us in our graves - or whether it should be ours here and now and on this earth.” Ayn Rand
The truly adult view [...] is that our life is as meaningful, as full and as wonderful as we choose to make it. And we can make it very wonderful indeed.”  Richard Dawkins, The God Delusion

Everyone in the world was programmed by the place they were born, hemmed in by their beliefs, but you had to at least try to grow your own brain. Otherwise, you might as well be living on a reservation, worshipping a bunch of bogus gods.” Scott Westerfeld, Pretties (Uglies #2)

Writing, painting, singing- it cannot stop everything. Cannot halt death in its tracks. But perhaps it can make the pause between death’s footsteps sound and look and feel beautiful, can make the space of waiting a place where you can linger without as much fear. For we are all walking each other to our deaths, and the journey there between footsteps makes up our lives.” Ally Condie, Reached (Matched #3)

Any book is a Good Book, and wherever they keep the Good Book safe is also the House a the Lord. ” Kami Garcia, Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles #1)
