Greetings! Welcome to 2018 on Nessascityblog, and a very happy new year to you. This can be a bit of a quiet time of year, immediately after the conclusion of the Winter in Antwerp festivities, but I will do my best to bring you a selection of affordable local events and activities taking place in the coming weeks. Friday
You might be more familiar with Aper’eau as a summer outdoor food & drink event, but on Friday they can be found on Theaterplein from 5pm for a New Year/ winter edition of their event, which includes drinks stands, food & snacks, and DJs.
Saturday
Did you make some new year’s resolutions about keeping fit in 2018? You might like to join in with this 5 or 10 km running group at Stadspark 9am, at the Rubenslei/ van Eycklei corner, or this Boot Camp at Park Spoor Noord at 9.30am
Last chance to see China Light at Antwerp Zoo, which finishes today.
Sunday
There’s a Film & Vinyl Sale (4 euros in) at de Roma theater from 11am.
Round off the weekend with a trip to the pictures to see 1963 The Birds (Hitchcock) which is showing at Cinema Zuid at 6pm- the cinema at FOMU. See this classic movie for virtually half the price of a trip to the mainstream cinemas.
The Children’s farm at Rivierenhof is re-opening after its winter closure. Come and see the animals between 1 and 5pm (free).
The weather this weekend will be pretty chilly (around 6 degrees) but mostly dry (possibility of some drizzle on Friday). It will be mostly cloudy with the possibility of some brighter periods on Sunday.

If you want to keep those winter warmth feelings going for as long as you can, winter bar Aspen Bocadero is still open (until January 21st)
