Chinese New Year is on Saturday, and the Year of the Rooster begins.

And The Antwerp Tower closes this weekend.

Friday

Assemble at 6pm on Theaterplein with your bike for the first Critical Mass Bike Ride of 2017.

Friday night offers the opportunity to tour the many galleries in Borgerhout from 6pm -11pm for the Borger #11 Nocturne. Best way to get from gallery to gallery is by bike.

Saturday

Chinese New Year celebration on Antwerp’s streets

For Chinese New Year, expect noise, dragons and lions on the streets in the Antwerp’s Chinatown.

Permeke library is also heralding the Year of The Rooster with a free exhibition Legends of Liondance which opens today and continues until 16th February, during the library’s opening hours. There is further information on their Facebook page.

Not far away at Design Centre de Winkelhaak, it’s Dubieus Design a retro, vintage design market mainly offering furniture and interior household items. You can go for the evening opening for 5 euros (including a glass of bubbles) or for free on Sunday.

110 at Papa Jos

Or come and see 110 performing at Papa Jos on Blindestraat at 9- this was a really good night last November. This time, with the addition of an open-synth. open-mic element for anyone who would like to join in for a jam. It’s also a chance to discover a really nice bar if you do not already know Papa Jos.

It’s the opening night for BATS Panto  -Jack and the Banstalk. You can get tickets via the Arenberg Theatre website. This traditional British panto will also be showing on Sunday afternoon (matinée), and Monday night.

There’s a big second hand market all day on St Jansplein from 9am and the ABC  (Antiques, Books, Curiosa) Market at Den Beulebak from 11-5pm.

Sunday

Dubieus Design (see above) continues throughout the day (10am -6pm) for free.

The weather is expected to be mild and bright on Saturday, but Sunday looking likely to be more showery.
