Greetings. Well, it seems that things are a lot busier this weekend, with a good variety of happenings this weekend, and also coming up in the following weeks (so be sure not to miss the Miscellaneous section for those activities which require pre-registration)

This weekend: 17th, 18th & 19th February
In other really rather thrilling news, Nessascityblog joins Events in Antwerp on Facebook to bring you Antwerp events and activities, in addition to those featured here. I’m joining Olly Ameen (of London Calling fame) there. It’s another way to get in touch if you have an event that you would like to publicise or recommend, so if you are on Facebook, please have a look and give us a LIKE.

Here’s the GOOGLE MAP for this post.

is a Goegekregen event.

And the monthly book sale (boekenplein) will be taking place on de Coninckplein (just in front of Permeke library) as usual.

At Costa there’s a free dance and musical improvisation event, starting at 1.30 -with further similar events to be held in March, April and June.

The annual Jeugd Film Festival (JEFF) opens at Het Paleis at 2pm with Storm Letters van Vuur (for kids 8+). Kids are invited to come dressed up as sportswomen and men, with the chance to win prize.. JEFF will be showing films and holding workshops throughout the Krokusvakantie at the Ecohuis and the Zuiderpershuis

There is an actual chance that the slightly improved weather we have enjoyed the last couple of days may endure for the weekend, with mild temperatures of around 10 degrees, very little wind and even some bright patches.

Miscellaneous

Maddi Goodwin & A Sunburnt Country

I was pleased to be contacted by musician Maddi Goodwin, creator of A Sun Burnt Country project. I am very much looking forward to attending this eclectic event at de Singel on Friday 19th May. It’s a must for internationally minded people, and doubly so if they are from- or have an interest in – Australia and Australian culture. The evening will comprise of music, readings and dance, and I am including it here because there is a 20% discount on tickets if you order them before the 1st March, which is not far away!

This weekend: 17th, 18th & 19th February

Another reminder for those interested in taking to the stage: this fun course on impro theater is due to begin on Tuesday and will run for 10 sessions. The first class is now a free drop-in class. Anyyone can come and try it out, then sign up for the rest of the course afterwards, if you think it’s for you. There’s also a student discount and the possibility to pay in instalments for those on a budget. This weekend: 17th, 18th & 19th February

Also for kids -the spring break (Krokus vakantie) is coming up in Belgium (starting 27th February). If you have kids who are off that week and would enjoy some sports activities check out this Stad Antwerpen Page. The activities on offer can be seen here and you need to go here to register. Stad Antwerpen museums also offer some ateliers during the Krokus vakantie, some of these involve signing up for more than one day.

Idee Kids also offers a variety of activities and workshops during the holiday week.

If you took part in Lei Reijnder’s (Cloudknitters) Let Sky The Limit postcard mail-art project last year, you can now see all the entries on this film

Don’t forget that next Wednesday (22nd) is the last Wednesday of the month, so Antwerp City museums are free.

We are fast approaching the very end of the Stadhuis 450 expo, which closes in March. If you have been meaning to go but haven’t, then time is running out ….
