So… Gretchen Rubin did a how on Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday which I occasionally like to watch online.
On Happiness: What you do everyday contributes to your happiness. We have to work to maintain it.
There’s no doubt – happiness looks different for everyone.
#Confession: I have been feeling somewhat guilty about how I felt lately about work. I am so blessed , sometimes I tell myself to work at home is a total blessing, so why am I complaining as long as I get it done, should I be concerned with the struggle & the long hours it takes to do it? YES.
Sure I should! I have always had a long time goal AND PRAYER of working less and writing MORE. I feel like God answered this prayer thought insight gained from this thought life – shared in this video- and I am going to get the book, because “I want a richer life.” And a better life is not always made better by money. I do know now I want to work less hours and make more money. Its so possible, so I must first pursue my goals of getting my education Less hours equals more money for me, and yet also more education, so I must first complete that goal.
Here are my wonderful objectives that lead to my own personal happiness:
1. Let it go – Let what go? (My anger my resentments my frustrations and work thru them…)
2. “Be” Jennifer. No one else can take full pleasure in being ME, but what does being Jennifer look like? Hmm…have I settled with that thought? (I’m working on it every day,and enjoying the journey.) – Do you know what it means to be you?)*
3. Clear the clutter . * (Man oh man this is me! ) Clutter clogs my mind too!
4. Create meaning and value in your life. I tend to create meaning and value by whom I spend time with and what we do when we do spend time together. Today, I just spent time in a very beautiful and chic’ side of town looking at autumn’s beautiful trees and dreaming as I walked through a few shops. I took a pic or two, and I am sure it will be forever in my mind…
5. Create a sense of being present, BALANCED, engaged and intentional
( I have to slow my pace, every now and then because work can be so busy… but knowing and being engaged with someone minus the phone and other stuff… just feels good sometimes. )
6. Gratefulness – It’s daily motivation to give thanks about something on my gratefulness plate. One of my clients said something about having a “hater plate” this week, and I thought: Hmmm… its so much easier to have a “gratefulness plate.” Am I eating from that plate, & being fulfilled w/ all the love and happiness?
7. What are the “habits” that make me happy? Well habits lately have been my cups of tea – which I have ben drowning myself in soup, and maybe a lil Pandora. I heard Adele released some music only on Pandora and I’m gonna follow up and listen…
Are you creating your own personal Happiness? What are your happy habits?
As I share this with you , I reflect on the fact that I have been given the name : “Make Me Happy”,
It’s my African name. I am often pondering who is Jennifer? And when I answer , do I answer with meaning? Am I really happy ?
In a year I want you to return to this post and ASK ME how happy I am. It’s likely you will not have to ask, you will just SEE it in several of my writings and possibly another good book, or two.
I am So VERY CLOSE! To being happy? No.. to being able to maintain the feeling of it. Despite my circumstance.
