There’s the Girl by Heart.

Posted on the 16 May 2012 by Melodicwisdom

I had the idea of featuring Heart in today’s entry because I’ve never written about them before. I looked through their songs on iTunes and stumbled across this one. It was actually a single but somehow I’ve never heard it. It’s never played on the radio either.

There’s the Girl became a single in November of 1987 from the band’s ninth studio album, Bad Animals. The lyrics were written by Holly Knight and Nancy Wilson. Nancy also sings vocals on this one, as she did on These Dreams. It went to #12 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and to #16 on the US Mainstream Rock chart.

The lyrics describe a man who can’t get over a girl he once had feelings for. The singer is reminding him how the girl isn’t good enough for him in the first place, giving him all the more reason it to let her go. However, the singer knows that even though he says he’s over it, it’s not completely true.
