The last few weeks have been full of a serious of incendiary reports in the US media about North Korea. Almost every single thing that has been stated in these media reports are flat out lies. Nevertheless, almost all of the US public is falling for the lies like they always do.
First of all, there was in fact an agreement signed by the US and North Korea, but the US has been violating it ever since they signed it.
It has four parts. The first three are not important for the purposes of our discussion.
4. North Korea will get rid of its nuclear weapons when the US removes all of its troops from North Korea and all of its nuclear weapons from the region. Steps 1-3 involve things like armistices, peace treaties, mutual no-aggression agreements, etc.
Despite the fact that we signed that agreement, the US started immediately demanding that North Korea denuclearize even though that is step 4, only to be done after three major steps occur. So the US wanted to jump right to Step 4 and bypass all of the first three steps. Well, that’s just not how it works.
The agreement says you do steps 1-3 and then you go to step 4. The media of course completely lied and misrepresented the agreement by saying that North Korea was refusing to denuclearize, so they were violating the agreement.
The media then lied some more and added that North Korea demands that all US troops withdraw from the peninsula before they get rid of their nuclear weapons. That’s not true. Step 4 says that North Korea will denuclearize at the same time that the US withdraws its troops and removes its nuclear threat from the region.
I don’t suppose you realize that the US has been threatening North Korea with nuclear weapons ever since 1953, right? Why do you think they developed nuclear weapons in the first place? As a purely defensive measure because we were threatening them.
Further, the UN says that every state being threatened with nuclear weapons has a right to develop its own nuclear arsenal in response. The US has always either violated that treaty or perhaps they never signed it in the first place. The US position has always the been the typical bully position as the US has been the biggest bully on the planet since 1945. The US position is “We get to threaten everyone else with nukes but you don’t get to threaten us back.” Real fair.
Also the US has signed disarmament treaties that mandate that US the get rid of all of its nuclear weapons in response to everyone else getting rid of theirs. Well we are violating that agreement since the US violates every agreement it ever signs with any country as a matter of principle.
The US has instead been expanding its nuclear force under both Obama and Trump. The US has no intentions of getting rid of its nukes, ever, but no one else gets to have them. Apparently we get to threaten everyone else, but they don’t have a right to fight back. Which is the essence of US foreign policy, by the way.
Also the MSM and the US government are both lying saying that North Korea is violating the agreement by making new nuclear weapons and testing missiles. But the agreement allows them to do that. The only thing they are not allowed to do is test nukes, like underground tests. Everything else is just fine. So the US is accusing North Korea of violating agreements that it never agreed to in the first place.
99% of the population doesn’t know any of this stuff because all they ever hear is MSM and US government lies. I assume you are in that 99%, which is not a criticism but a given.
