This is as near to empirical research as I can get! I eat a lot of charcutierie, I have perhaps eaten in just about every establishment in Dublin that offers this delicacy! Between myself and himself we've graded each place on things like quality, service, ambiance and value for money to name but a few criteria. I've crunched the numbers and come up with what I consider to be the top ten venues offering charcuterie in Dublin. Of course not everyone will agree, I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions!
10. The Gravediggers
I was surprised to find charcuterie (more of an antipasti plate to be honest but what harm!) on the menu in one of Dublin's most traditional pubs but it was damn good and well deserves to be on the list. To be sure there's something rather Mediterranean afoot up in that area of Glasnevin.
9. Dunne and Crescenzi
This is a bit of a DIY job but you can put together you're own charcuterie plate from different elements on the menu here. Good fresh produce. I haven't been in to try their new bar area yet but I'm looking forward to it.
8. Drury Buildings
Nice to see that somewhere as hip and trendy as Drury Buildings doesn't feel the need to mess with something as simple as meat and cheese. A perfect outdoor spot to enjoy your charcuterie.
7. Caffe Italiano
Upstairs above a bazaar selling everything from Brazilian food to bongs you'll find the most unlikely location for some of Dublin's finest charcuterie. Come and enjoy the food and the Bob Marley soundtrack!
6. La Dolce Vita
One of Dublin's hidden gems. I once asked a fellow Dublin blogger not to share this place with all in-sundry! I hope I'm not in trouble now! Great coffee too.
5. Bagots Hutton
Fantastic little subterranean wine bar with wonderful produce. Have we all checked out the tunnel in the back yet? I'd love if the music was a little lower and the wine list a little longer! (Hello middle-age!)
4. Chez Max
We were introduced to this wonderful restaurant and it's fantastic little secret outside terrace by French Foodie in Dublin. We've gorged ourselves many times since... charcuterie for breakfast anyone?
3. Ely Place
This is one of my favorite places in Dublin. On my list of things to love about this spot the charcuterie comes third after the fantastic staff and the superb wine list.
2. Da Mimmos
The jewel in the crown of the Northside! If you haven't been yet I want to know why! Real Italian food made and served by real Italians!
1. Enoteca della Langhe
Where else could really be my number one other than the place that introduced me to the idea of combining meat and cheese on a plate way back in 2003? Great food and a warm friendly atmosphere combined means it's my "go to" place when I need to scratch my charcuterie itch!
Now that the good weather is nearly upon us where will you be sitting alfresco and enjoying your charcuterie board with a glass of vino?
