Not convinced? Think about some of the different ways that getting in shape can influence your overall happiness.

  • It gives you a sense of control over your life, and in a time when it can easily seem like your life is dragging you around that’s important. Taking control of your fitness means taking better control of your life.

  • It can also help prevent illness and disease, which in turn can make you feel better about the steps you’re taking to stay alive and stay healthy.

  • Exercise is fun, believe it or not. It’s not that great when you’re in a stuffy garage on your own, doing jumping jacks while staring at the wall. But heading outside into the sun for a walk or jog, going to the gym to workout with friends, or just jumping on the treadmill while you watch an episode of your favorite TV show can be a lot more fun than you may think.

  • And of course, working out ends up helping you look better than you have in years. Losing weight, toning your muscles, and improving the way you look in general will help you feel better about yourself every day. Not to mention the fact that once others start complimenting you on your looks, you’ll feel even better.

Summary

There’s no doubt that physical fitness is good for your mental health, and several studies have found it to be scientifically true. As a result, you owe it to yourself to get off the sofa and get started on your own workout routine. It’s easy to plan a basic workout regimen, and once you start you’ll begin to notice what a difference it makes.
