The propaganda lie for the day deals with Russia announcing their first casualty of the Syrian war. A Russian air force personnel was reported killed in Latakia. Latakia is where Russia has its huge and expanding Taurus base. The Russian Defense Ministry issued conflicting reports that he either committed suicide or was killed in an accident involving careless handling of weapons.
His family is disputing the suicide report, saying that there is no way he ever would have committed suicide, but families often do that after suicides because many suicides are quite unpredictable, which is one of the odd things about suicide. Yes, a seemingly perfectly happy person can up and kill themselves just like that. Happens all the time.
The West is running this like he was killed in combat, and Russia is lying by saying it was suicide or an accident. As far as I can tell, they have not proven their case at all. Their evidence apparently is, “Russia lies all the time, so we don’t believe anything they say. Because Russia lies all the time, they must be lying now.”
For one thing, it’s not even true that Russia tells a lot of lies. The NATO countries lie far more than Russia does. Mostly the Russians just deny things that are true but that they would be crazy to fess up to, which they can hardly be blamed for.
