The Rise Of Rag 'n' Bone ...

It's been a few times now, that we've reported on Rag 'n' Bone man, and it's without a doubt that we'll be following this guy for the foreseeable future. Every sing;e time we go to write about him, it's that voice, that really gets our blood pumping, and the reason why we started writing in the first place, seems as though it's been found. In new single, Rising Sun, a feature artist, whom we actually saw perform with him in Brixton, comes in the form of Stig Of The Dump.
The Rise Of Rag 'n' Bone ...The first few vocal lines from Rag 'n' Bone Man aren't, to be far, his very best. However, when the beat comes in, and he is allowed to then blow it all up, and use a much more in-range part of his vocal ... he'll blast you away. Soon then on, a deep and foreboding undertone of vocals seeps its way into your ears, and that allows the top line to blossom ...
Stig Of The Dump soon follows and, though we think he really brings something to the table, we reckon he'll very much split opinions. Some will absolutely love him, and think that he really adds a new dimension to this relatively dark and, at times, gritty track .... but others will see him as another wannabe rapper who, because he isn't famous yet, isn't worth the time of day.
Naturally, we'd like to disagree with anyone who thinks that he isn't a talent, and reckon that this partnership could be one of the best we've heard this year, despite it being so late in the day.
The accompanying video is also one that'll hit home. Like in Rag 'n' Bone's last track, the use of superimposition is prevalent, and beautiful. A homage of different disasters seem to take place at exactly the right time to match the voices and, when you're listening through, we'd question anyone who turns their nose up!
Paul.
