The Obligatory Year End Post

By Thelostboylloyd @lloydthelostboy

Over the last two years, I ended the year with The Best of Travel to recap our journeys for that year. But given my preoccupations in my personal life, I preferred to come up with a less formal and more personal year-end post. I would've peppered this post with photos, but I barely have the time, for I'm leaving for Kuala Lumpur for New Year's. I believe this is better than nothing, though. Read more…

The past month took a toll on not only my personal life but also to my blogging. If you’d notice by number of posts, November was a lot more productive than this month. I’d like to spare everyone of the specifics, yet I won’t hide that things have been difficult for me.

But the rest of the year was an adventure. We started off the year in trench coats and boots, walking hip along the streets of Hong Kong, only to return again for a post-birthday trip in Asia’s World City and Macau. For the first time, we were able to visit the small country of Brunei, and I was able to wander around the busy and intriguing Jakarta. Lastly, an event brought us once again to the best attractions and food in Singapore.

The highlights of the year, however, were our trips to Malaysia. In March, we covered Future Music Festival in Sepang International Circuit, while in June, we were able to explore exotic Sabah while getting a taste of Miri in Sarawak. When I thought our adventures to Malaysia would only resume in 2014, I was invited to Malaysia Tourism Hunt 2013 throughout Southern Peninsular Malaysia, the opening of LEGOLAND Malaysia Water Park in Johor, Let’s Explore Cooperatives in Negeri Sembilan, and Celebrating 1Malaysia Truly Asia in Perak. As a reminder, 2014 is Visit Malaysia Year, so visitors can expect celebrations all year long.

Of course, we never forgot to explore the Philippines. I went to Cebu in January to experience the grandest festival Sinulog, while throughout the year, we visited several towns, islands, cities, and provinces, including Boracay, Puerto Princesa, Iloilo, Dumaguete, and Bacolod. For the first time too, I was able to set foot in beautiful places like Zamboanga, Ozamis, Pagadian, Butuan, Siargao, and Surigao.

ON A MORE PERSONAL NOTE

For the upcoming months, I have decided to lie low from the blogging scene to fulfill our pending responsibilities in this blog. With the support of my family, I will be based in Cebu in the meantime, but I would occasionally go back to Manila as the need arises. The traveling will without a doubt continue, sponsored or otherwise.

I’d like to personally thank all our partners whom we have worked with this year, and at the same time, I’d like to sincerely apologize for the setback and for the delay with our outputs. Rest assured that we would follow through with our commitments in due time, and I am fervently hoping for your continued support and patience.

Please indulge me also as I thank my loving family for being with me in these tough times. I’ve learned over the past month that home is the only destination where I am always welcome and where I could go for a pit stop while on a grueling journey through life.

To our friends, readers, and followers, thank you for your supporting us the past year. Our current situation is just temporary, so I do wish that you’d continue to read this blog.

And finally, to my travel buddy, my partner-in-crime, the other lost boy whose invaluable work in this blog has remained uncredited to this day, I am terribly sorry, and I hope you’d find it in your heart to forgive me in time. You know how to reach me, and I am always here.
