Yesterday the NFL agreed to move kickoffs from the 30 yard line to the 35 yard line. One of the main reasons was all the injuries that occur during this play. Can someone please explain to me, how i have never heard one player in the NFL say i wish i didn't get injured or hurt.
No and you probably will not. Injuries are always going to be a part of the game as much as we want to prevent them its very hard to. How bout the NFL starts to educate its players on proper technique of tackling and blocking them.
Its like taking a toy from a child because they did something wrong and never telling them what did they did wrong. How are they going to ever learn, they learn by educating and experiencing. I would understand if the NFLPA said something like we keep getting killed on kickoffs and we are all getting injured. But, nothing like this has ever been said.
Josh Cribbs one of the NFL's most prolific returners brought up some good points as well saying "You can't eliminate injuries from football. It's a gladiator sport," as well as saying "... This means it will be touchbacks all over the place...," he continued. "Essentially taking returners out of the game...injuries will still take place, then what move it up again, or eliminate it all together.."
He makes very valid points, kickers are given a additional 5 yards this is beneficial to the weaker leg kickers in the leg. I also agree with the gladiator sport aspect. At this level they have the best players that hit the hardest.
It would make sense to see this rule in high school and maybe even college. But, the NFL is a little ridiculous.Fans once again are wondering really what is going on here? We will have to see as the two sides try to sign a new labor agreement.
