The Most Livable City - Melbourne

By Shalinidigvijay @shalinidigvijay
I've got twists and whorls on the soles of my feet...
I'm a wanderer, thats why my fingers begin to itch every two years. I need to shift base...
And travel...
Hubby dear is the same , he virtually travels every day through the Internet .
We make plans and itineraries for trips we plan to make in the future whenever we speak of sweet child flying the nest...
Australia is going to be the first.
Even if we crash land in the land of the in between -Melbourne.
We speak of shifting lock stock and barrel to distant lands ,where the air is free , the sunshine balmy and atmosphere affable.

We don't want to be two backpackers, in the prime of our youth, drunk on the fact that we are on a long long holiday...

We want to sink our feet into the golden sands of the beautiful Victorian beaches...where things are anything but "Victorian".

Wouldn't it be wonderful, if we could set up a home on a beach ,close to but yet on the fringes if Melbourne, Australia.
Every morning we'd wake to beautiful blue skies ,and never have to think about how hot , humid or cold it is.
French windows that open out onto a beach...
Coffee and the Morning Newspaper with the gulls and the waves...
And just in the mood for a long drive along the Great Ocean Road in an open 4 wheel drive with my chemically straightened hair flying in the wind...

I am not planning to ride on a horse along the coast road, or surf or skydive...I would love to check out the 12 Apostles from a helicopter.  And for repeated visits ,a walk would be fine thank you.

And then on a baloon on steroids-According to Rohan and Tanmay thats what a hepter is...
The12 Apostles are rocky outcrops that rise from the water like the 12 holy men ...a natural wonder not seen else where...
Neither of us are early risers ,so we'll settle for the wonderful colours of sunset.
The freshness of the food is what beckons my heart...Every time I watch any Aussie cookery show ,I just want to dive into my flat screen...

I adore seafood, tiger shrimp being my favorite, so I'd feast on lovely barbecued prawns while hubby dear settles for grilled veggies-he can't get past the smell of shell fish...

I would love to be able to work from home ,just when the creative juices fail ,wear my posh togs and drive down  to the Yarra River ,feel the wind beneath my wings -literally and hear the sound of my thoughts and then land in the Yarra river valley..Ok, not in a figment of my imagination but in a hot air balloon, just floating like the little specs that one sees in one's vision time after time...

I may not know my Pinot from my Chardonnay, but my punjabi blood sure knows good alcohol when it tastes it.
Cheers!
I am a collector of eclectic arty stuff. Colour attracts me, the more vivid the better...
Melbourne is now the art capital of the world . The district centered around Flinders Street Station, around Swanston and Elizabeth Streers is the area to just breathe in art and the passion associated with it.

I would love to spend the day  watching the artists work and the world go by...
Another place I would love to wander with hubby dear is the Renningers  Flea And Farmers Market, in South Melbourne.  There is something magical about moving between fresh produce, maybe I'll manage to source a cast iron pan or two, maybe some enamel ware pans...
Maybe I will be able to set up a stall.
Wow.
What could I sell...
Not the stuff that the others sell...
Perhaps my Paan Gulkand Cupcakes or baked Samosas, perhaps Kathi Rolls ...maybe not..
And then end the day with an awesome coffee in the coffee capital of the world. ..Melbourne.

But Melbourne is certainly worth looking forward to. You can check it out in these videos posted by very desi Tanmay and Rohan.
Clean air and countryside, warm heartef welcoming people, good food and of course the occasional cricket match or two.
But seriously, after the Indian teams debacle at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, I'd look towards Rugby.
So much to look forward to...
So many plans to make...
So many more adventurous plans can be made here.

It will surely be a blessing to live in the most livable city in the world. Totally cosmopolitan, you never know where you meet a fellow Indian. Chic ,Melbourne is a shoppers Mecca .

Its just waiting to be experienced. Even if it is Down Under.

Once in a lifetime things come along ,

Pushing the boundaries, writing  songs
maybe tomorrow we can be great
but just for the moment the dreams make it a beautiful day....

I have made plans and plans...
