Michael O’Hare has written a story about a Little Bear whom lives in the Rocky Mountains and is looking for your help to turn his story into an interactive children’s book that is designed to help teach the importance of our forests, our parks, the environment and our wildlife.

The Little Bear of St. Elmo’s Forest
The Little Bear of St. Elmo’s Forest is about a Colorado black bear named Ettie, who decided to give up his life in the forest to become a ‘boy to sing, dance, and play as children these days do’. A mischievous elf, known as ‘TommyKnocker’, grants Ettie his wish in return for some gold veins hidden inside his cave.  Then Miners descend upon the forest and go after the gold.  Therefore Ettie needs save the forest and his wildlife friends before its too late.

This story came about from Michael’s camping trips with his children who wanted to craft a story with a strong message of conservation to give them a sense about their obligation to protect the environment. The book app blends both the creative artistry with the technical aspects of computer programming.

Their plan is to build several original and instructive games within the story to teach children to be good stewards of nature.   Through your generous pledges “The Little Bear of St. Elmo’s Forest” could become an interactive children’s book app on Ipads and Tablet PC’s.   Your donations would allow them to digitize the illustrations, program the animations, build the interactive features, and create original games.

Pledges of $30 or more will receive sponsor credit, which will be displayed at the end of the app.

Pledges of $5000 or more will receive executive producer credit and will receive recognition at the beginning of the app. See http://www.indiegogo.com/ettiethebear for more details.
