The Lazy Girl’s Beauty Routine

By Blondeambition @BrookeFalvey

my beauty regime

I freely admit this isn’t a post for the fellas, instead you may wish to read this hilarious post about what guys think about when on the toilet. In fact, you could probably read it while on the toilet.

I love to read about other people’s beauty routines; I think this is because I am inherently lazy at th beauty stuff and hope they’ll inspire me to greatness, although I tend to default (mostly) to supermarket brands because I like to chop and change without feeling guilty for spending a small fortune.

The chop and change attitude could be why my bathroom drawers look like this:

Although, I don’t actually use anything in these drawers, preferring to squish my day-to-day favourites in my makeup bag or leave them scattered across the bathroom counter.

These days I tend to favour a natural look so I keep things simple with tinted moisturiser, blush and lip balm as my everyday basics, throwing in a couple of extras if I’m going out somewhere special.

My preferred tinted moisturiser is Garnier’s BB Cream which has SPF for sun protection and gives me a nice, even coverage without being too thick while my favourite blush at the moment is The Body Shop’s Baked to Last Blush which gives me a nice rosy glow.

When it comes to keeping my lips kissable, I stick with Blistex.

For a little more sparkle, I use Maybelline’s Full N Soft Waterproof Mascara (which gives me bedroom eyes the following day because I never get it all off at night!), Napoleon Perdis Loose Eye Dust in Stardust for a bit of golden shimmer and, if it’s a really special occasion, I’ll have a go at putting on Napoleon Perdis’ Neo Noir Liquid Eyeliner (although experience suggests I’m actually very bad at this).

When it comes to getting all that off at the end of the day, I cleanse with Nivea Daily Essentials Refreshing Facial Wash Gel and finish off with The Body Shop’s Aloe Soothing Night Cream and Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado.

I try to freshen up my face with a five-minute mask once a week. I’ve found Neutrogena’s Rapid Clear 2 in 1 Cleanser and Mask works well for my skin type (a little oily but not many breakouts).

When it comes to looking after the skin below my shoulders, I’ve finally joined the moisturising gang. It’s not that I was ever opposed to it, it’s just that I always tend to forget about it until it’s time to try something on and then I’d drop my pants and realise how lizard-like my legs were (okay that’s a little bit of an embellishment!).

But I recently discovered Vaseline’s spray moisturiser and it’s revolutionised my daily routine to the point where taking care of my body now has two steps (perfect for the lazy girl’s guide to beauty) … deodorant and moisturise.

Once a week I give myself a body scrub using Anatomicals The Buff Stuff Citrus Body Scrub (grab it and an exfoliating mitt from Priceline) or, if I’m feeling fancy, Frank Peppermint Coffee Scrub … but be prepared to scrub your shower once you’ve scrubbed yourself.

My favourite beauty products.

And with that, my beauty regime is complete.

If you’re now questioning the state of your make up drawer, check out this story and this story for tips on how often you should clean out your makeup drawer. But brace yourself, they had me running for my bathroom with a garbage bag.
