The Hair Diaries: The hair challenge plus a rare glimpse of the blogger

A small selection of my ever changing hair cuts!

They say that patience is a virtue, unfortunately it isn't a virtue I posses, especially when it comes to my hair. I have had short hair since my second year of university and kept it short for about two years. In this time I grew it a little and then decided to cut it short again and dyed it different colours. Then about two years ago I committed to growing my hair and managed to grow it just past my shoulders from a super short pixie cut! Then the impatience started to creep in and I literally woke up one morning, decided I didn't like it long and then got it all chopped off into a Mia Farrow type cut. All that time and effort I took to grow my hair and it was gone in a split second decision!
I am a massive fan of short hair but going from longish to very short was a little bit of a shock! After I'd gotten over the shock I was loving my short hair again but was slightly regretting my split second decision to chop it all off! Also, when I saw my best friend her response was, 'you are growing it for the wedding, aren't you?' With this comment I had flashbacks to the last time I was on bridesmaid duties and my now sister -in- law's expression when I turned up three weeks from her wedding with half my head shaved. Eek!
The Hair Challenge
So what has this got to do with anything? Well, as I am a good friend I have decided that I will grow my hair for my friend's wedding in October 2012. I've also decided I'm going to document the process and keep a diary of all the awkward stages it needs to go through until it gets to the perfect bob I'm aiming for! Just to make things a bit more interesting, the forfeit for the failure of the task is that I have to sing at my friend's wedding! This is something I feel strongly that I do not want to do! So here it goes....11 months of just trims, no drastic cuts but I am allowed to dye it woo!
As well as having some hair in 11 months time, I'm also hoping this will teach me how to be more patient and  less impulsive! Keep checking back for photos and posts from the hair diaries....
