It’s that time of the week folks, the Great Submission Challenge update.
I’m pleased to inform you that after 8 weeks the terrifying submission sensation has dulled itself into a chronic state of fear and with things getting so busy around here it’s actually gotten easier to submit. Surprising right? I’m going to brand this the bandaid effect. Because I no longer have the time to sit around and freak out about submitting and just have to get it done to keep up with the challenge I can be quick and efficient without all the emotions.
It’s wonderful.
Onto what all you other aspiring writers out there are waiting for though, this week’s literary agency found, researched, and served up succinctly to you for your submitting pleasure.
This week’s agency is actually a lot more famous than I expected, after researching them I discovered they’re the agency that represents Suzanne Collins among other fabulous YA writers. So no pressure or anything.
the Stimola Literary Studio is located in Edgewater, NJ and can be found via their website http://www.stimolaliterarystudio.com.
They only look at children’s and YA manuscripts, but all varieties of those. They are very open to reading unsolicited query letters (and were the first agency I’ve seen that actually comes out and says they enjoy getting unsolicited queries) but don’t reply to queries they aren’t interested in requesting. If they do want to read your manuscript they have a 2-4 week response time. [For those writers new to submitting that might not know the difference between submitting a query and submitting your manuscript here's the basics: A query is what you write to get an agent interested in your manuscript, what it's about, and who you are that you could sell books. If interested, whoever you queried will ask for you to submit a manuscript later, and almost no (in fact none that I've seen) publisher/agent/small press will accept an unsolicited manuscript whether you include a query or not.]
Good luck with your submissions writer friends! Share your successes, or words of wisdom, in the comments!
