Style, flair, overindulgence. Trademarks of director Baz Luhrmann. Perhaps no other director would be more suited to adapt F. Scott Fitzgerald’s, The Great Gatsby. A new vision of the timeless novel, Luhrmann infuses the roaring twenties with the musical sensibilities of the 21st century. The project hasn’t been without its problem though, including a lengthy six-month delay to the big screen. How does Luhrmann’s new project fair compared to previous adaptations of The Great Gatsby or even his highly regarded Red Curtain Trilogy? Is this another case of too much style and too little substance?
