The Gorgeous Summer Menu at Olive Bar & Kitchen, Mehrauli

By Thetastingfork
When I think of restaurants that have consistently brought out seasonal menus and done a fabulous job at them, Olive is one of them. Olive Qutub has come out with a new summer menu and synonyms of amazing are all that comes to my mind. Chef Dhruv Oberoi, the man behind leading the menu and kitchen operations now, has done a fantastic job at playing with such interesting ingredients and presenting such good flavours with them.
The new summer menu consists of all the courses and several dishes under each. I started my meal with a Green Gazpacho- a cold soup with cucumber gel and pickled cucumber, and crème fraiche sorbet crushed into pieces and sprinkled on top. The pickled cucumber was my favorite part about it! Tart and so well-balanced! Sprinkle some black pepper on the gazpacho and you’re all set.The Gorgeous Summer Menu at Olive Bar & Kitchen, Mehrauli

Carpaccio of mushroom with white asparagus was a beauty for cheese lovers. It had a hand-stretched parmesan lavash in quite an abundance, with asparagus shavings and lettuce on a bed of mushroom carpaccio which was slightly milky. Very healthy. We also tried the Prawn counterpart of this dish, Prawn Carpaccio. This was completely different in flavor but. Thin sliced prawns, radish, purple potato, cherry tomato, prawn cracker which is very thin in texture, and the most dominating part of the dish that also brought everything together was the leche de tigre. This is basically a citrusy dressing made with salt, pepper, chilli and fish juice, and gives it a sour edge. The Gorgeous Summer Menu at Olive Bar & Kitchen, MehrauliThe Gorgeous Summer Menu at Olive Bar & Kitchen, MehrauliPalate cleanser was a lime sorbet, which was followed by the mains. Hand-rolled Agnolotti with Butternut Squash was hands down the most comforting thing on the menu for me. Pasta stuffed with goat cheese and spinach mousse, comes with a pumpkin puree, collard greens, and parmesan tuile. If I have to choose one main dish from the menu, it has to be the Chilean Sea Bass. Fillet of Sea Bass in a honey glaze, with a drizzle of mustard brulee. The fish cooked so beautifully that you could taste the flavours and the sweetness of the honey in every bite. Very juicy, very soft, just perfect! The Gorgeous Summer Menu at Olive Bar & Kitchen, MehrauliAlso tried a Chicken dish which the summer menu originally has as a lamb dish. On a bed of red wine jus, a nice crisp crust on the chicken, parsnip puree and mustard greens stem to give you a balanced meal. The dish was great with the flavours and the beautiful finesse, but because we had the sea bass after that, we couldn’t help but say everything else for us came second. The Gorgeous Summer Menu at Olive Bar & Kitchen, MehrauliSummer Mango Cassata was a very light yet hearty dessert made with mangoes. No summer menu I believe is complete without mangoes in India. A very light and airy block of mango sabayon with mango chunks on top and some on the side. Some mango coulis, almond dacquoise, and a chilli relish which I absolutely adored, and the dessert was complete! The Gorgeous Summer Menu at Olive Bar & Kitchen, MehrauliIf I thought the mango cassata was great, I didn’t know I had an even better dessert waiting in line. Tiramisu Version VIII is a dessert that will even make the strongest-willed person break his diet and indulge into this. You cannot describe the brilliance of this dessert. You just can’t. Tiramisu served like a block of icecream, with every ingredient shining through and through, the tiramisu melting in the mouth, it was simply nirvana. Must must try for all! We also tried the superb Affagato with equally phenomenal truffles and coffee macarons, and oh my, I cannot praise Chef Dhruv enough for the brilliant menu he’s put up.The Gorgeous Summer Menu at Olive Bar & Kitchen, Mehrauli
