The idea that each behavior is tied into nice little behavior packages has no evidence to back it up. I think it’s more like new car packages where if you want air conditioning you have to get the stripes and undercoating. You might not want these but that’s the way it comes.
The genes for male homosexuality could be on the X. You get it from your mother. Those genes do not have to be selected for. Mothers give them to their sons but the sons don’t pass them on. They are only passed on by female offspring. If it is on the X, you don’t need to select for it at all. Gay male genes pose no fitness risks for females, so the genes persist even though no one is selecting for or against them.
