So, when on a trip into my local CVS a while back, I encountered the Rimmel display and saw that they had a matte offering - the Lasting Finish Matte by Kate Moss - I knew I had to try them out. I'd never actually tried a Rimmel product (has CVS always carried this English brand? I honestly can't remember, but they're always only on an end cap and I may not have noticed). These are one of the only lipsticks I've seen in drugstores marketed as matte. And matte they are. I first picked up shade 107, a deep berry (seen here), and recently picked up shade 110, a punchy, coral pink, after Anna mentioned it in this video (seriously, if you haven't checked out Anna's blog, do so - I want every product she mentions).
The formula of these is definitely different from the NARS lipsticks I'm used to. They're drier and feel almost as if they sit on top of the lips, though this doesn't bother me, and I haven't noticed a lot of transfer. I do, usually, wear these with a layer of lip balm or lip primer under them, however. This might compromise the staying power, but they still last forever. They're richly pigmented but still light and at under $10 a great option if you think spending over $20 on a lipstick is outrageous. I can't wait to try out the other 8 shades in the range!
