Jane Landry is the Christmas in NYC getaway winner! Congratulations Jane!
Jane and her husband, Paul, will spend three days and nights in NYC shortly before Christmas. They will stay in the heart of Manhattan, at the Marriott. The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, 5th Avenue with its beautifully decorated store windows, and Radio City are just a few short blocks from their hotel.
Besides taking in the sights of NYC at Christmas, Jane and Paul will take part in a Christmas tradition…attending the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall.
Jane completed active treatment in January of this year. A pediatric nurse for 33 years, and the mother of three grown children, 21-27 years, she lives and works in Massachusetts.
During her stay in NYC, some of the group of students from Allen School, in Brooklyn, who donated the funds for the Christmas in NYC getaway, will join Jane and Paul for a photo-op, as will members of the Board of No Boobs About It.
All of us at NBAI are excited to meet Jane and her husband Paul and welcome themto Christmas in NYC!
For those of our visitors reading about Christmas in NYC for the first time, here is an overview of the getaway: Christmas in NYC is the second getaway made possible through our “Pink Time Outs” Program.
The “Pink Time Outs” Program, www.noboobsaboutit.org/pink-time-outs/ began earlier this year. “Pink Time Outs” are all about giving a woman, recovering from breast cancer, the normalizing experience of a short getaway in an elegant setting. The Program is meant to help the transition from the long months of active treatment, with their exhausting side effects, to a new beginning in survivorship.
In 2014, No Boobs About It, now a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization, will actively fund raise to expand the “Pink Time Outs” Program to encompass multiple getaways across the United States including cruises.
Also in 2014, the Program will expand eligibility to include women and men with metastatic breast cancer, and on active treatment. There will now be two groups of women and men eligible to participate in Pink Time Outs. To clarify, in addition to those women and men within one year of completing active treatment for their initial breast cancer diagnosis, or a second primary, or local recurrence that is not metastatic disease, Pink Time Outs will be open to those with metastatic breast cancer and on active treatment indefinitely.
