Our last stop of the day was in the small town of Lébény:

It was actually one of the members of the hotel staff who had advised us to go there and “have a look at the church”. Lébény has a Romanesque church from the 12th century, which was originally built for a Benedictian monastery. Its exterior looked gorgeous and I started taking pictures as soon as we arrived, while Lars waited in the shadow of one the surrounding trees.
Lars and I were of course curious about the interior. But when we opened the door, we stood face-to-face with a big man with a huge belly. Who had a enormous red nose. He started shaking his head and started rambling in Hungarian. We don’t speak nor understand the language, but we understood from the scaffolds behind him that the church was being renovated. Actually, there were so many people working that we couldn’t see anything of the interior.
Anyway, even if this man had addressed us in German or English, I think we would have had some troubles concentrating on what he was saying. Our attention would have been diverted by that thing on his face that was three times the size of a normal nose. It didn’t help either that is was covered with some kind of black pimples. And last but not least, there was the smell of sweat and alcohol.
We don’t like to judge a book from its cover. Nor make jokes about it. And we usually don’t. But we can’t help it… Every time we see the pictures of that church, we see that red nose…
We hope that the renovations are progressing smoothly.
