Although more of an American trend, more and more people around the world are opting to register for wedding gifts.
Registering may take some of the thought away and not give guests the opportunity to express themselves the way they want to through their gifts.
However, registering for gifts can have some great benefits both for the couple and the guests.
What you want
Of course, the most obvious benefit of registering, is that you will be getting what you want. And that means that guests will know where the money is going and that it is going on something they know that you want and need.
Easy to choose
Sometimes the choice of what to buy as a wedding gift can be too much for guests. If you register and provide a list of gifts for them to choose from, they can pick their price range and choose what to buy for you.
No duplicates
By choosing your own registry list, you can be sure that you don’t receive two of the same gifts. You can go around a store and pick as many of the same or different items as you like, maybe in different colors or in different sizes.
So, where do you start when it comes to registering? Here are some tips to make the process as simple as possible.
Get thinking early…
When you get engaged, if you plan on registering, then it should be one of the first things you do. Family and friends get just as excited as the couple when it comes to the wedding and giving them a gift selection to choose from will allow them to get even more excited!
Do it together and be real
Browsing the stores for gifts must be done as a couple, so that there are no nasty surprises when it comes to gift-opening time!
You need to think about your lifestyle and what you really need. Think about what you already have and the things that you need, now is a great time to get them!
Don’t be too steep
You need to ensure that there is a gift on the list that will suit most people’s price limit. Your close family and friends will probably chip in together to buy something more expensive, but other guests may only want to spend on a short budget.
Returns!
Lastly, check a store’s return policy before registering. If you change your mind when you receive the gift, there may be no going back!
