Movie: The Bag Man

On his last assignment, contract-killer Jack (a lovable bad guy) has to look after a mysterious bag while hiding out at a motel. Strictly instructed to not look inside the bag while in his possession or let anyone take a peek, Jack’s life goes topsy-turvy when he lets a hooker spend the night with him in his room.
Despite good performances by Cusack and Rebecca, “The Bag Man” fails to keep you engaged from start to finish. It has an interesting premise and the suspense built very early on in the film was supposed to excite you, but it doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to work. Even the twist in the tale is very much predictable, and therefore, is less interesting and appealing.
De Niro as the crime lord is menacing and shoulders his role with finesse. Although the film does get a little interesting towards the end, but it’s too late by then. “The Bag Man’ attempts to be a Quentin Tarantino film with as many twists you usually find in his films, but it only falls flat in the process and proves why nobody can imitate him.
“The Bag Man” only has a few moments worthy of mention.
