I've been grumbling for some time now about the big elm that is obstructing the view of the mountains to the east. Having it removed is going to require some pricey tree guy work and we keep putting it off. But for the past week, the elm has been a glorious thing ... glowing gold in every light.
It's losing some of its leaves, giving us a glimpse of beyond . . .
The gold contrasts so nicely with the sky -- whether cloud-filled...
Rainy...
Or clearing and bright blue.
The sun lit up the tree and over its shoulder, a rainbow appeared . . .
I spent much of yesterday in the kitchen and every time I glanced out the window, the tree seemed to be even more spectacular than before. I took almost seventy pictures of it...
Sometimes the tree that's blocking the view, is the view.
Do you think there's a moral in there somewhere?
Or perhaps a Zen koan?
