One of the most touching and memorable parts of my trip down the Mississippi River between Minneapolis and Memphis has to be the generosity and friendliness of the locals, the Americans! Many British people, my self included before the trip, are often slightly unsure of Americans, sticking to the stereotypes we see in films and pictures on the front of the paper. I can tell you that these stereotypes were completely broken down for me; my opinion of America changed from being unsure and slightly sceptical to a point where I didn't want to leave, I'd met some of the kindest people and saw some of the most beautiful scenery, I certainly hadn't expected to.
Obviously generalising such a huge country, in terms of people and space, in to a simple feeling is hard to do but from a month long trip through 9 states, meeting a huge variety of people, I can safely say I'll be going back.
To the American people; thank you for taking us in on so many occasions, providing showers, beds, air conditioning and fantastic conversations, and much more - it was really appreciated and made the expedition the adventure of a life time (so far!). It's a country full of adventure opportunities, I'll just have to pick one!
