Primitive agriculturalists such as African Bantus and Papuans are well known to have very high testosterone levels. In contrast, Pygmy and Khoisan hunter gatherers have low testosterone. The world over, agriculturalists tend to have higher testosterone than hunter gatherers.
In the case of testosterone, civilization seems to drive higher testosterone levels because females become more selective about males as everyone can survive. In hunter gatherer tribes, there is little selection pressure for testosterone as a woman needs a man in order to survive so most females just hook up with any available male around age 18-20 or so and hardly anyone remains unmarried.
Also agricultural societies promote such things as “haremism” where the biggest, strongest, meanest, most sociopathic man and their buddies become chiefs, leaders, Mafioso, nobility, corporate executives, Senators, cops, generals, ruling classes and whatnot, and in many cases these men and their sociopathic pals monopolize a lot of the best females leaving a lot of the males in a sort of semi-permanent bachelorhood like sea lions on their haul-outs. Advanced civilizations lead to monopolization of resources and females.
Agricultural societies are like elephant sea lion colonies. A few of the meanest, craziest bulls have huge harems, and most of the rest of the male sea lions spend all their time on offshore rocks called “haul-outs” presumably masturbating with their flippers and plotting the overthrow of the King Elephant Seal.
