I know some of my readers are skeptical about tofu. It comes in different textures, and even flavors, and the consistency just puts so many off before even giving it a real try.
Well, if you're a vegan, you learn how to wrestle tofu into something good. Last night I created a recipe that's really worth a try. Just some firm tofu and a few great ingredients shaped into one tasty meal! I'll be having it later over a salad, though if I had time, I'd throw it into a vegan fried rice, maybe with cashews, slivered pineapple, scallions...YUM!
You will need:
1 package, firm tofu, cut into 1/4"-1/2" slices
2 TSBP crushed, roasted garlic
Low sodium soy sauce
Toasted sesame oil
Gomasio seasoned sesame seeds
Organic agave nectar
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Line a baking tray with aluminum foil and spread your pieces of tofu on top.
Drizzle the oil, seeds, soy sauce and agave over each piece, but don't drown it! I used a basting brush to be sure I had everything covered, but the last thing you want is just really salty mush.
Sprinkle on your seeds and dot each slice with a little of the garlic.
Turn the tofu over, using the excess marinade to "dress" the underside.
Pop in the oven, bake for 15-20 minutes and enjoy!
