Sushi Hiroba - Holborn - London

By Yummei @yummmei
I hate first dates.
It's always abit awkward.
Choosing the right location that will impress her without trying too hard can be a difficult affair.
Fellas' I feel your pain.
This is a crisis that I normally help tackle for my friends, I would get the usual pained messages throughout the week and typically it's along the lines of:
"Amy, I need your help. I have a date and I have no idea where to take her. Somewhere that looks awesome but doesn't look like I'm trying too hard. Catch my drift? P.s. I don't want to queue - I know how much you like that."
Guys, you have come to the right fairy godmother.
I have just the place in mind, Sushi Hiroba in Holborn.
Why? Because:
A) It's a stunning restaurant, but is totally unpretentious.
B) You don't need to have that awkward silent moment gawping at the menu, thinking "What do I order? What do I order?? There's so much choice Ahhhh...." Here you just sit around the conveyer belt and casually choose whatever dish you fancy. Easy.
C) You can share ;] Ice-breaker bonus!

Ambiance/service ?
I'm a sucker for low, sultry lighting in a restaurant and let's face it everyone looks sexier in dim lighting.
The service is attentive, and my glass is constantly topped up with out having to lift a finger to ask. True ninja style service.
What is great about this place is that the staff never rush you, it's a very relaxed service, so can just kick back, enjoy your time and work on your charm.
Sex Appeal?
The sashimi/sushi rolls are priced by color ranging from £2.20 to £4.20.
This is the only place in London, where the sushi on the conveyer belt is fresh. The turn around is pretty fast, and the sushi doesn't stay very long on the belt. A testament to how good the sushi is.
Just be sure to sit around the sushi bar, and not in the booths around.
Proximity is important, especially since it's more fun to choose things together, then reach across and grab whatever sushi roll you want. Plus I personally love to watch the sushi rotate around, like a fat cat.
Also, don't try to be adventurous and order anything else EXCEPT the sushi, you will be disappointed.
The sushi creations are genius, incredibly fresh, generously sized and undeniably delicious.

Score Factor?
Take her here to show off your culinary prowess, cultured palate and hopefully you'll impress her enough that she'll want to take a bite out of your sushi roll too ;]
