Sun Lovin' Fun with Philosophy - "Here Comes the Sun" Age-Defense Water-Resistant SPF 30 UVA and UVB Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen

By Makeupguineapig @MakeUpGuineaPig

Around the beginning of the summer, I picked up Philosophy’s “Sunny Girl” gift set. It included a full size sunscreen for body, a full size sunscreen for the face and a full size SPF 15 lip treatment. I actually have not tried anything other than the sunscreen for the body yet, but I absolutely LOVE it!!! The actual name of the body sunscreen – wait for it, it’s incredibly long – is “Here Comes the Sun: Age-Defense Water Resistant SPF 30 UVA and UVB Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen.” So what makes it so great?

Most sunscreens that I have used, no matter what they claim, leave you feeling at least a bit greasy and / or sticky. Plenty of them have a strong odor that can be pleasant, but unless I am at the beach, I do not really want to smell like a super concentrated coconut grove. I was looking for a good every day, broad-spectrum sunscreen with a decent SPF that was water-resistant (waterproof does not really exist in a sunscreen no matter what the bottle tells you) and was not tested on animals. I can deal with the slightly greasy feeling and kind of figured it was just the nature of sunscreen, but then I tried “Here Comes the Sun”! This sunscreen glides on really smooth and absorbs almost on contact, thus preventing the slightly tacky feeling to which I have become so accustomed. I was shocked by how nice Philosophy’s sunscreen felt literally right after applying it! It feels very much like a lotion that absorbs on contact. It does not skip or drag while being rubbed into the skin and it really does absorb instantly leaving skin feeling better than before it was applied. I would not go so far as to say that it moisturizes, but it does make skin feel nice. Add to that the lack of any strong fragrance and it is a clear winner in the sunscreen category!
There is nothing particularly unusual about the claims of this sunscreen, but the formula still makes it worth every penny. The sunscreen has an SPF 30 and protects against UVA and UVB rays and is water-resistant. It is an oil-free, lightweight formula and it absorbs almost on contact. According to Philosophy, “Here Comes the Sun” has an antioxidant blend that enhances cellular defense to help prevent the signs of aging while advanced “solar filters” protect skin evenly from the sun’s damaging rays. As I said, nothing too fancy, but the feel of this sunscreen will have you hooked!
Sun Lovin' Fun with Philosophy - “Here Comes the Sun” for the body comes in an inverted white squeeze tube with a sunny yellowish-orange flip-top cap. The product itself is basically a light-weight lotion that is very slightly off-white in color. Do not worry – it does not leave any white streaking or take hours to rub out the white. I am not sure whether this is due to the wonderful absorbency of the lotion-like formula or if the ingredients just do not cause that chalky white film that no one wants. It has a very, very light scent that is kind of standard to an “unscented” sunscreen, but it is so faint that I do not notice it while applying it or even immediately after I put it on. It really is the nicest sunscreen I have ever used!
To the best of my knowledge, Philosophy does not test on animals, nor do they sell in China where agreeing to potential animal tests is required by law.
Philosophy’s “Here Comes the Sun” Age-Defense Water Resistant SPF 30 UVA and UVB Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen retails for $26.00 (more than I’d like to pay for sunscreen, but it really is worth it!) and is available in the US from:

The set I mentioned above was purchased from Philosophy.com, but I do not think it is still available.
