SUMMER! What better time is there to discover new books from some talented indie authors? Welcome to the SUMMER SPLASH BLOG HOP! ( ‪#‎kindlehop) There are so many great prizes just waiting to be won, and over 40 authors to discover! As the for the prizes, click here to see some of what’s being offered!

****I’ll be giving away a $10 Amazon.com Gift Card. Please see below!*****

I haven’t published a new novel in quite a while. It isn’t because my two books, The Girl, the Gold Tooth and Everything and Rita Hayworth’s Shoes, have made me set for life, though. Not really the indie way! It’s because I’ve been bogged down by so many other (paying) writing projects (not complaining, Universe, I swear) that I really haven’t had the time to complete any of the five WIPs (yes, five, it’s ridiculous, you don’t have to tell me) on my computer. But I want to. I really want to…

However, fiction-wise, I’ve published two short stories this year – both for charity. One was for a Christmas collection called Merry Chick Lit, my story called “Carol of the Belles”; the other, A Kind of Mad Courage, I actually published on my own. (My story, “Monkey Bread,” is a mini-sequel to Rita Hayworth’s Shoes.) Eighteen other authors contributed stories, my wonderful editing partner, Samantha Stroh Bailey, helped with the editing, and all the proceeds have all been donated to The Guthy-Jackson Foundation, which advances research in understanding NMO, an auto-immune disease.

All this because, 1) I really loved the experience of donating something (I have no money, I’m an indie author!) to charity for Merry Chick Lit (proceeds went to Rocking the Road for a Cure); and 2) I lost my mother in October to complications from an auto-immune disease. Call me “Pollyanna” (and believe me, many have, including my mom – hey, I’m the “Joy Jar” Project girl!), but it feels good to be able to give something back.

Like I said, I don’t have money. I don’t believe you need money to give. Time and talent are also pretty significant. In some cases, maybe more so.

How do you feel about doing things for charity? Leave me a comment – and please be honest. Your response will not effect you getting the AMAZON GIFT CARD I’m giving away.

Now… Speaking of comments, let’s get back to Summer Splash… ‪#‎kindlehop

Each stop on this hop will feature it’s own giveaway, and there are some pretty cool prizes up for grabs. I’ll be giving away a ***$10 AMAZON.COM GIFT CARD*** to a reader, chosen at random, who leaves a comment here, telling me how they feel about writing for charity, and including their email address and their Twitter handle. And who also follows me on Twitter (just click here).

Click here for more details about the official Summer Splash Blog Hop page, and a listing of all participating authors.

Thanks for stopping by!
