I'm not sure if my american friends are aware that in EU (where I'm originally from) we start school most of the times on September 1st unless it's a weekend. I mean I graduated a while back ago and I've been living in the US for same while to be honest and still 1st of September sounds pretty apocalyptic to me right now. At the same time I do belive that you can get the most out of it (fall) just think about all the colours and the weather, clouds and the SUN of course. 
the best thing to do is transform your rainy day into a sunny one no metter what and get out there (grab your camera) and enjoy the time. You never know when the time is right and maybe your next photograph is a masterpiece. It's sad another summer is gone but hey we got Halloween ahead of us. Turkey day! yeah yeah,...is it just me or our life is a constant wait of something and w/e it's gone we just sit there and think how great it was and I do hope you had a great summer and off to have a great fall and I'll see you in it!
