Summer Drawings - I

By Pmeurice
Starting a series of drawing and paintings for the summer...  I take amongst the pictures taken in the last months, or in the sightseeing tours I will have to find some subjects to paint.

And what about cars? I once had the chance to attend a Classic car racing event. though I am not crazy about old machines, I was really captivated, and especially by the efforts made during the 50's and the 60's by Italian and German manufacturer to combine beauty, design and technics.I would be totally unable to tell what model is the one below... Just a snapshot of an old car from Saint Germain, conveniently placed in a Mallorca landscape...

Car study in Blue

For the following one, I was always curious... Going from Ealing town center down to South Ealing, an old red car has been forgotten on a parking space, slowly getting covered by weeds... Wander if it's still there?

The old Red Car, Ealing

Probably more will come... Good subject to train on shapes, lines and perspectives... One thing I will have to fight with for these summer drawings: I don't like too much this paper... Long to dry... good to paint with washes, and I am not patient enough to wait in between. Anyway... let's get started for the summer. ***

And for those interested, some quick sketches helping me in placing the colors...
