Summers are in and it calls for the right skin care regime. We have often heard beauty bloggers talking about CTM routine, but this summer with growing heat courtesy global warming and other environmental factors, the care has to be little rigid and different.

Step1 Summer Skincare - Cleansing

The epidermis (first layer of skin) needs to be cleaned to avoid pore clogging and microbial development. For this, you can use any face wash that is not harsh on your skin and maintains the PH balance of the same. I have dry to combination skin, and these are the face washes which I am using currently. You can alternatively use a daily face wash and a milder one in the night. Oily skin people can also try Salicylic acid face wash to get rid of excess oil and sebum.

Step2 Summer Skincare - Toning

Once, after cleaning the face, you can apply an alcohol-free toner to close the just opened pore. Toning helps in keeping the skin firm and tight. There are many options available in the market, depending on your skin type you can go for it. Rose water is a natural toner which can be applied if nothing suits your skin.

Step3 Summer Skincare - Vitamin C Serum

Earlier the routine said to moisturise immediately after toning, but with ever-increasing pollution, and exposed UV rays we need to apply vitamin c serum Earlier the routine said to moisturise immediately after toning, but with ever-increasing pollution, and exposed UV rays we need to apply vitamin c serum which helps in breaking down hydrogen peroxide particles that further leads to early aging in our body. There are many serums available in the market which can be directly applied to the face or can be mixed with the moisturiser/day cream. I personally prefer Aloe-vera and 'Guduchi' which give the required dose of vitamin C to my skin and keep the skin fresh and glowing.

Step 4 Summer Skincare - Moisturisation

This step helps in bringing back the hydration to the skin. If you are having dry skin, you need intense hydration irrespective of summers and oily skin needs the face cream or moisturiser that checks the excess oil from the face. I prefer aqua based moisturiser which is light on the skin yet hydrating. I firmly believe that Indian market yet not have ample right options as moisturisers, people alternatively use their body lotion as their face lotion. For marketers, this is the gap that needs to be filled in.

Step 5 Summer Skincare - Sunscreen

SPF (SUN PROTECTION FACTOR) comes to rescue. These days SPF30- 50 make a good sunscreen anything less is just a spend but not a remedy.
This is the step whose importance is increasing day by day.
With temperatures soaring as high as 45 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees just in the month of April, gives us a little alarm. The UV rays coming along with sunlight are a harm after a point of time. These are also a factor responsible for early ageing, gray hair etc. Here SPF (SUN PROTECTION FACTOR) comes to rescue. These days SPF30- 50 make a good sunscreen anything less is just a spend but not a remedy. I would suggest buying some pharmaceutical sunscreen because they have the right minerals to ward off UV rays rather than the Indian drugstore which do no good. From lotions to creams to gels, we have all of the OTC counters which you can pick accordingly.

Step 6 Summer Regime - Lip Balms

Coming to the last step which is equally important is taking good care of your lips. Any lip balm which is your favorite and stays long with right SPF can be used. Its a myth that lips chap only in winters, the growing heat chap the lips in the dear months of May and June as well so this step is important in summers as well. Or try a natural DIY lip balm with beetroot.
