Top: Bare Lips
Middle and Bottom: Bitten Lip Look

Explanation:

  • Start with exfoliated lips. Dab good amount of lip balm to plump up the lips.
  • Dab some concealer to cancel out any pigmentation on the lips. this also provides with neutral canvas to start with.
  • Use matte or less creamy lipstick. Lip butters and glossy lipsticks are too creamy and they will blend together and the stained lip look will not be achieved.
  • Apply a coat of a nude lipstick or a color close to to your skin tone. This enhances the look of stain and gives a contrasting base.
  • Blot the lipstick using a single layer of tissue paper. Apply a thinnest coat of loose powder on top of blotted lipstick. this will absorb all the extra oil and help the lipstick stay longer and improves the pigmentation.
  • Apply second layer of same nude lipstick on top of the loose powder. This will give a clean and pigmented application.
  • Dab smallest amount of bright lipstick on center of the lips on the inner rim. Take care not to apply a lot of color as it will cancel the effect of stain.
  • With a very a light hand blend the bright lip color with the nude color. Keep the edges clean try and create a gradient of color.
  • Applying a clear gloss is optional. I avoid using a gloss as it will blend the colors together.
