Review of Gumigem Teething Necklace
You may remember a while ago I reviewed (or should I say Big Mr A reviewed!) some dog tag teething jewellery from Gumigem as part of my Father's day gift guide. I was very jealous of Big Mr A's dog tags as Little Miss A really enjoyed chewing on them and it was a nice way for them to get close. I was very pleased when I was offered a piece of teething jewellery for me to use!
Who are Gumigem?
Gumigem is a UK based family business who produce silicone jewellery which is aimed to be stylish as well as a useful aid for a teething baby. There is a huge range of jewellery to choose from to suit every taste and it is all mae from silicone so is soft, flexible and safe for baby to chew. The silicone meets all the necessary standards and is BPA, PVC, lead, latex and phthalate free.
The jewellery has been made to be able to withstand high temperatures so it can be easily cleaned either in the dishwasher or hot water so you know it is completely clean before letting your baby chew it! All the necklaces come as a long cord with a breakaway clasp so it is not uncomfortable to wear.
Gumigem was created by Jenny McLaughlan, a mum of two from Scotland who came up with the idea whilst on maternity leave with her second child who was a big teether and grabbed at everything!
When the necklace arrived I was very impressed with the quality and look of it. Even though it is designed to be stylish and wearable I was not sure whether it would actually look like something I would wear daily. I have however been pleasantly surprised. I really like the necklace and have been wearing it whilst out and about a lot since I have received it.
The necklace comes well packed in it's own plastic pouch for easy storage and also comes complete with a very handy teething information booklet with lots of useful tips!
Little Miss A has really enjoyed having a good chew on the necklace and will sometimes just sit and play with it rather than chew it. It is nice that she has something to play with whilst sat on me rather than my normal, everyday jewellery which she usually sets her sights on!
I have found the necklace comfy to wear and, even when Little Miss A is pulling on it, it is not uncomfortable and if she pulls too hard the clasp comes undone. I was a bit concerned the necklace would come undone at the slightest little tug, however, it doesn't. The clasp will come undone if the necklace is pulled hard enough for it to be uncomfortable, however, just a little tug and the necklace will stay put!
Overall I am really impressed with the necklace and think it would make a lovely present for any new mum or as a treat for yourself!
