Stop eating chocolate during pregnancy is the new warning being given to mums to be. We are now putting our daughters and even our future granddaughters at risk of cancer if we eat high fatty foods during pregnancy.
I am hoping this new research is proved wrong as I was one of those expectant mothers who spent the whole 9 months or pregnancy eating nothing but high fatty foods. I gave into the temptations of chocolate and other not so healthy foods.
A US study of female lab rats found high-fat diets elevated the likelihood of mammary cancer in the rodents’ offspring by as much as 60 per cent. Disturbingly, the increased risk of cancer was apparent across two generations, even if the daughter and granddaughter both ate healthily.
National Breast Cancer Foundation research investment director Dr Alison Butt warned that prevention could start as early as the womb. Source
Do mums to be not already have enough to worry about? Without now being told they are putting their baby at risk if they eat foods like chocolate during pregnancy?
Personally I would not take this seriously and would advise mums to be to eat fatty foods in moderation and to eat a balanced healthy diet.
What do you think of the new research? Will you stop eating chocolate during pregnancy?
