Stepping It Up: Kids Talk About Walking, Fun, and the Environment

Posted on the 05 September 2011 by T_mackinnon @tedmackinnon

Check out this video to learn how elementary school children feel about their walk to school and why they are encouraging others to stop driving with mom or dad and join in.  There has been a steady decline over the past twenty years in active travel to and from school.  Children whom could be using these active methods  instead are getting a ride in the family vehicle, and missing out on opportunities for easy exercise, fresh air, social time with friends and family and a chance to help the environment.

The video is part of pilot project happening in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area – for more information about the Stepping It Up pilot project visit http://www.metrolinx.com/mx/schooltravel/default.aspx
