Malini Banerjee, Kamakshi Kaul, Ashish Soni, Gaurav Gupta, Shekhar CS. and Marc Robinson at Max Design Awards 2014 Student Edition in Association with Elle India
I recently attended "Max Design Awards 2014 Student Edition in Association with Elle India" at The Olive, Qutub Area, New Delhi and had the pleasure of meeting fashion's some big names like fashion designers Ashish Soni, Gaurav Gupta, (Masaba Gupta is also in the judges panel but she couldn't make it to the event) Shekhar CS. - president of Max Fashion, Malini Banerjee - Fashion Director ELLE India, Kamakshi Kaul, Head Design, MAX Fashion and Marc Robinson - Project Head, MAX Design Awards.
I also got a chance to ask questions from Ashish, Gaurav, Shekhar and Kamakshi. It was my first time when I spoke in front of faces like these and that too officially and not like a fan, so my mind blurred all questions I had prepared for them. Marc Robinson made it a light moment by saying "She is trying to come up with a question!" my *dumbface*
Question for Ashish and Gaurav -
SSU: Is it the uniqueness or the simplicity that you are looking for in the designs of these upcoming fashion designers because MAX Fashion is often visited by middle to high-middle class families of India. (I asked this question differently, in a confusing way! It was my first time guys!)
AS&GG : The brief of their answers was "At the moment we are only looking at the raw talent of these upcoming fashion designers."
Which is exactly what I wanted to hear. However, I am still wondering the deign that will be chosen for... read ahead to know what is this whole competition.
Question for Shekhar CS. and Kamakshi Kaul -
SSU: eCommerce is in boom in India, is MAX Fashion also planning to come up with their online store of MAX? If Yes, when?
S CS.&KK: Yes, hopefully by next year. But currently, MAX Fashion is available online at Flipkart as well.
I have noticed that many apparel and accessories store in India have their online stores in place too, but most of them are not selling the clothes they have in stores. They are something different. So..
SSU: What about MAX?
S CS.&KK: If you look at Flipkart's MAX clothing, you will find out that the same item is being sold which is in stores. Plus they are being sold with the same kind of offers or discounts as we have in stores. (I am relieved!)
SSU: Is MAX planning to launch its cosmetics aisle / brand too?
S CS.&KK: No.
