SSB Radio and Pactor

By Saltykisses @svprili
We've had our SSB radio and pactor modem onboard for a while now but were too busy (and scared) of putting them into operation. If you have read any SSB manuals it's as though it's written in Chinese. But thanks to fellow cruises on Solitude we have popped the box of our Pactor modem and leaped into the world of SSB email, weather and blogging.
This is my first post via our Pactor 4 modem and SSB radio. There can be no pictures posted but we will be able to keep our blog up to date when we are in remote areas or offshore. How brilliant! Also a big thanks to my facebook group who told me how to post to our blog via email. When everything else fails bring out the big guns: women who sail (facebook).
I still have a bunch to learn about our SSB but for now a big thanks goes out to the Lunenburg, Nova Scotia station that has been sending and receiving my emails. I'm sorry if I jump in while it's busy, I have no idea what I meant to be listening for when the radio is busy. There are a lot of rules to abide by and I'm sure I'll be breaking them all, not intentionally of course.
